Our bodies are a gift

So I’m doing some dissertation reading and then googling for fun.

When I Google “our bodies are a gift,” there’s some really great stuff (imho) about how our bodies are entrusted and endowed to us by God, and so we should be grateful. It’s a lot of theological stuff that lines up with the thrust of what I hope to write about.

But when I Google anything like “our bodies are a gift pregnancy” or “… pregnant women” or “… mothers”, I just get a lot of gift lists for pregnant women.

Now I like gifts just as much as the next pregnant lady, and am definitely going to need one of those hold-your-belly-up braces soon. But I’m a little pissed.

Wouldn’t it be at least a *little* appropriate for us to spend some time thinking about how our bodies are a gift from the people that spent almost a year carrying us around in theirs?

Ugh, at least it’s more fodder for writing 🙂
